赤坂人形入荷

 久しぶりの大量入荷で大喜び！

福岡県筑後市の野口紘一さんから赤坂人形が届きました。

野口さんは普段は飴を作っていて、年に1〜２回この土人形を焼きます。

栞には「製作窯元・赤坂飴本舗」と書かれています。

1年くらい前に注文していたのですが、なかなか届かなかったので何度もお電話して催促してしまいました。そうしたらこんなに沢山送ってくださって本当に嬉しい！

野口さんは3代目ですが、昔からこの雰囲気は変わっていないところがとても良い。

胡粉を水で溶いて素焼きに塗るので、手に白い粉が付いてしまう。絵の具は飴屋さんなので食紅を使っていて青・黄・茶・黒という単純な色使いで、とってもアバウトな塗り方。

そんな素朴なお人形に心を奪われる人が後を絶たないのです。

福岡出身の郷土玩具蒐集家の梅林新市さんも、昭和の初めに赤坂人形に魅せられ、これを武井武雄、川崎巨泉、西沢笛畝などに送ったとのことです。

郷土玩具マニアの中では知らない方はいないほど人気の赤坂人形、ほら、だんだん欲しくなってきたでしょ？

赤坂人形には面白い形の笛もいっぱいあります。

この土笛というのは意味があって作られていました。

①お年寄りの誤嚥を防ぐために、食事の前に吹かせて軌道を広げるため。

②子供の虫下しのため。

お薬のない時代、子供の虫下しのために土を舐めさせていたそうです。でも子供に土をそのまま舐めろと言っても嫌がりますよね。そのために土笛を作って吹かせて、土を舐めさせていたとのこと。

効果の程はわかりませんが、土も胡粉も食紅も自然のものですから口に入れても害が無いのです。

そんなこんなで、子供たちの気をひくために、面白い形の笛を作ったのでしょう。

郷土玩具って楽しいですね。

We are overjoyed with the large amount in stock for the first time in a while!

Akasaka dolls have arrived from Koichi Noguchi in Chikugo City, Fukuoka Prefecture.

Mr. Noguchi usually makes candy and bakes this clay doll once or twice a year.

The bookmark says "Production pottery, Akasaka Candy Honpo".

We ordered him about a year ago, but they didn't arrive, so I called him many times to urge him. I'm really happy that he sent me so many!

Mr. Noguchi is the 3rd generation, and I love that the atmosphere hasn't changed since the old days.

Since gofun is dissolved in water and applied to unglazed pottery, white powder sticks to the hands.  As he runs a candy store, he uses food coloring and uses simple colors such as blue, yellow, brown, and black.

There is no end to the number of people who are fascinated by such simple dolls.

Mr. Shinichi Umebayashi, a local toy collector from Fukuoka, was also fascinated by Akasaka dolls at the beginning of the Showa era, and sent them to Takeo Takei, Kyosen Kawasaki, and Fueho Nishizawa.

Akasaka dolls are so popular among local toy enthusiasts that there are no one who doesn't know about them.

Akasaka dolls also have many interesting whistles.

This clay whistles were made with 2 purposes.

(1) To prevent aspiration in the elderly and to widen the trajectory by blowing before meals.

(2) To get rid of worms in children.

In the days when there were no medicines, children were made to lick the soil to get rid of worms. But children don't like it when you tell them to just lick the soil. For that reason, they made clay whistles and made them blow it to lick the soil.

That's why they made whistles with interesting shapes to attract children's attention.
